Our Story
Her Story
April 2009- I got an unexpected text from my aunt saying that she and my uncle had someone they would like me to meet. My uncle had gone to Home Depot, and through a crazy turn of events, he met a nice guy named Jharid, and he thought we'd get along just great. It didn't hurt, my aunt said, that Jharid was cute and wanted to meet me too. I agreed to meet, although I was reluctant at first. The night finally came when Jharid shook my hand for the first time, and I remember thinking to myself- we couldn't be any more different. He was captain of his high school's football team, class vice-president, and very muscular. I was a punk-rock wannabe with side-bangs and a quiet social life. We introduced ourselves, and kept in contact. I thought he was just being nice to me because my uncle became his new work-out buddy. Come to find out, we weren't that much different after all.
June 2009- Jharid and I went on our first date. A plate of raviolis and an awful movie later, he kissed me goodnight in my driveway before his 11 o'clock curfew.
June 24th 2009- Jharid asked me to be his girlfriend. For the very first time in my 17 years of living, I had to change my myspace relationship status. Suddenly, life was filled with sunshine.
Fast forward to the present- Jharid and I have been inseperable since. Different colleges, study abroad, new jobs, and masters degrees, we've done it all together- probably holding hands all the way. On Sept. 13th, 2014, Jharid popped the question with a shaking voice, and I said yes through tears of joy. As I type this, Jharid is in the living room of our 4th floor apartment watching some sports game with his feet up on the couch. I don't know how life could get much better than this, but I'm beyond excited to find out.
His Story
I'm currenlty on page 2,555 of my novel "The love story of Jharid & Lisa" Unfortuantly, the website is telling me the file is too big to import or I would have shared it all with you now. So instead, here is a few thoughts and excerpts from the book.
You see, when everyday is an absolute adventure, and it's shared with the best partner in crime a man could ask for, why not write it all down and knock "The Notebook" off the NY Times best seller list and add mine to the rankings.
Page 365, "How did one year already fly by. It feels like I have been dating this girl forever! An unbelivable year of growth, ups, downs, losses and memories. I could not have made it through this year without Lisa. No one truly knows how much she has helped me each and everyday. "
Page 1,825, "People don't get lucky, they create their 'luck' through hardwork and constant betterment. I do believe in that quote but.... there has to be one exception... damn did I get LUCKY! Tomorrow morning I will ask the question that I have been waiting to ask for years now. To take the next step in our relationship and ask Lisa to marry me. I am lucky. "
The love I have for Lisa can't be explained in just a few paragraphs or my work in progress novel. I can't imagine what else will make it into this novel before it's all said and done, but I'd say with modern technology, and improvments in health science, there's at least another 100 years of writing to do.
